A woman in overalls holds a framed painting of lemons. She is outdoors next to a stone wall with three other framed paintings on it. On the ground and table are various vintage watering cans and bottles, some with lemons. A large still life painting featuring lemons, fish, and kitchen utensils is propped against the ground.

Astrid’s Inspiration

A tin of sardines, a jug of mimosa, a few sunny lemons. These are some of the things I love to paint using gesso, dry pure pigments, collage and beeswax on panel. Sometimes still lifes and sometimes the tide going out at West Bay. Fish, lobsters and shellfish are my muse.

I like to capture those small, joyful moments. Dinner with friends, ready and set on the table. A vase full of freshly cut olive branches. Finds from a beach walk. A Mediterranean scene. If you’d like to commission a painting in my style, just contact me with an idea.
